Dear Neighbor,

 

The Laken Riley Act has passed the House of Representatives. 

 

I wrote this bill to give Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and state governments more tools in the fight against illegal alien crime. The bill passed overwhelmingly on Thursday ahead of President Biden's State of the Union address, 251-170, with 37 Democrats joining all Republicans in support.

 

Laken's murder at the hands of an illegal alien on the campus of the University of Georgia was another wakeup call that the Biden administration's open border policies are making Americans unsafe in their own country.

 

While we can't bring Ms. Riley back, we must do whatever we can to make sure what happened to her doesn't happen to another American, and the Laken Riley Act would directly address one of the federal government's failures that allowed her murderer to roam across America.

 

As the president apologizes to Laken's murderer for calling him an illegal and says people like him built America, I am committed more than ever to getting the Laken Riley Act through the Senate and ensure that Joe Biden sees her name on his desk.
